Last season we finished 11 points behind eventual Premier League champions Manchester United. Can we push them all the way this coming season?
Well if we are to then I firmly believe we will have to cut out the unnecessary draws that littered our campaign last time out against teams we should have been beating. Also we must do better against the other big four teams, Arsenal, Chelsea and United.
Okay our draws at home to Chelsea and Arsenal were unfortunate not to finish as victories, and we fully deserved our hard-fought two points at Stamford Bridge and the Emirates but after two demoralising defeats against United, we have to pick up more than four points from our matches against the other top four teams if we are to challenge for the title.

Thinking of having a flutter on the winners of this season's Premier League title? I'll have my usual £10 on Liverpool to finally end our 19 years of pain and win the title, and I'll probably have another tenner on them to win the Champions League for a sixth time too.
But looking on an odds comparison website, Liverpool are only fourth favourites to win the Premiership (8/1 being the best odds you can get currently with BETFRED). United and Chelsea are the overriding favourites understandably given their experience of winning the title in recent years, but I found it a little surprising to see Arsenal quoted as third favourites (4.5-5/1) by all the major bookmakers. My reasons for this surprise you may ask?
Well during the summer, Arsenal have lost a huge amount of experience, with Flamini, Gilberto, Hleb and Lehmann departing and Adebayor still being linked with a move away from the Emirates. The signings of Nasri and Ramsey are undoubtedly exciting for the future but will the lack of experience in the squad count against them over the course of a long and tough season? I think it may, whereas Liverpool have strengthened and look considerably stronger than last time out.
Meanwhile, Rafa's boys are also fourth favourites out of the four competing English teams to win the Champions League again despite our pedigree and excellent recent form in the competition (12-14/1). Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are currently also above us in the bookies thoughts.

The draw for the third round Champions League qualifiers will be made today at 11am at UEFA's Nyon headquarters, and there are a number of tough teams the Reds will be looking to avoid as Rafa Benitez aims to take the club one step further than last season's semi-final.
And there is a chance of an early reunification with former Reds winger Harry Kewell if the Reds land the Aussie's new employer's Galatasaray, while there could also be an emotional return to Anfield for little Luis Garcia and Florent Sinama-Pongolle if the Reds land one of the toughest possible ties available against Atletico Madrid.
