Rafa Benitez yesterday admitted that he will need to sell members of the current squad if he wants to bring in further new faces before the start of the new season.
After splashing out nearly £20million on the signing of Irish striker Robbie Keane from Tottenham, Benitez confessed that he is still interested in bringing in Gareth Barry from Villa, but also that he will need to raise the cash to do so by selling. And those whose Anfield futures may be under threat include Jermaine Pennant, Andriy Voronin, Steve Finnan and Xabi Alonso.

If our new number seven Robbie Keane can strike up the sort of partnership with Fernando Torres that he had at White Hart Lane with Dimitar Berbatov, we could be in for some exciting times next season at Anfield. Here's why.

Degen, Dossena, Cavalieri, Ngog and Keane. So far Rafa has splashed the cash on five new signings ahead of the forthcoming season.
And with at least one more player, possibly Gareth Barry, set to join the influx of talent into Anfield before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August, we want to know if you think Rafa's new signings, in addition to the wealth of talent already at his disposal, can finally bring Liverpool our first league championship title in 19 years.
What do you make of Rafa's summer signings so far? Let us know as usual below.

...King Kenny Dalglish. Yes, you voted the King, with 29% of the vote, the most exciting player in our long and illustrious history, beating John Barnes (21% of the vote) and Steven Gerrard (17% of the vote) into second and third place respectively.
And so to celebrate his victory we've found a montage of his greatest moments in the famous red number seven shirt for you all to enjoy. So all that's left for me to say is, thanks for the memories Kenny! You're the greatest!
Enjoy!!!

Okay, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. These rumours circulating about Xabi Alonso being targeted by Turkish club Fenerbahce have to be a joke surely. I'm sure they'd love to sign him but does Xabi reciprocate Fener's feelings? I wouldn't have thought so.
Yes, his former national coach, Luis Aragones, has taken over the Istanbul club this summer with Euro 2008 squad member Daniel Guiza joining him on the Bosphorus, but surely Xabi is too good to even contemplate a move to a league like the Turkish Super League at the moment isn't he? No disrespect to anyone Turkish by the way!
I'd rather he stayed at Anfield, as I think last season was just a blip in his copybook, and instead of spending a fortune on Gareth Barry we should put what money we do have into signing a forward, such as Robbie Keane, and a top class wideman.
What do you think of the rumours? Would Xabi go to Turkey in your opinion? Or should we keep him? Let us know below.

Could former Liverpool target David Villa be set for a move to England after all?
Unfortunately yes he could, and ironically to replace one Robbie Keane at Tottenham, after the Valencia striker's agent claimed that his client is excited by the prospect of a move to London to team up with former Sevilla boss, Juande Ramos.
Jose Luis Tamargo told The Guardian: "Many clubs have contacted me about the chances of a player who is guaranteed to score goals in England. But I am convinced if Spurs present an offer, Valencia will study the subject. David likes London and likes how Tottenham play with Juande Ramos. This is a club that excites him."
Personally, I'd rather Rafa went out and signed Villa but if we were to get Keane instead I'd be quite happy with that.
But do you think Villa would go to Spurs? Would you be happy to see him go to White Hart Lane if it meant Keane came to us? Who do you think would score more goals? Give your comments as usual below please.

It's been a pretty quiet few days around sunny Anfield, what with Rafa Benitez and the squad being away on their pre-season tour, the only transfer activity involving the arrival of youngster David Ngog and the same old Gareth Barry and Robbie Keane rumours doing the rounds in all the newspapers.
So, to bring back a few happy memories for all you faithful Kopites and Pie-eaters we want to know who you think was the most exciting player in Liverpool's long and illustrious history. Yes that's most exciting, not necessarily your favourite of all time (if there's a difference).
Who brought the most sunshine to your life? Let us know below
